A multiroom system is used to distribute audio sources around a building.
They come in many different flavours but the main two types are:
Speaker Streaming Systems such as the SONOS and Cabasse products where amplified speakers are placed around the house and they all work together to stream digital radio or virtually any digital music source. They are very good for retro-fitting as the speakers are built in. These system also can integrated into a centralised system.
Centralised Systems such as RUSSOUND or even SONOS can be centralised, a Multi room amplifier is used to distribute signals over speaker wires to ceiling or wall speakers around the building. An app or a wall plate is used to control the system just as in the streaming systems. These are highly customisable and can be used with any speaker or audio source combinations.
A multi room audio system can be integrated with the TV's in a room so whatever images are showing will automaticallly play through the speakers or the speakers can be used to play centralised music sources.
